Labradorite is one of the most powerful protective stones in the mineral kingdom. Its presence is strong, expansive, and layered. This stone is said to protect from negative energies, unfavourable people, situations, and influences. It acts like an energetic filter — gently cleansing the aura of darker energies and forming a cloak of light around its wearer, shimmering like a radiant, many-coloured rainbow.

This rainbow is believed to glow more brightly as the heart opens. Outwardly, it works like a mirror: everything is reflected, yet nothing is allowed to enter. In this way, unwanted energetic influence, ill wishes, harmful glances, deception, or negativity are said to lose their power. Labradorite is believed to protect the aura from damage, prevent energy from being drained, and stop others from attaching themselves to our energetic field.

Its protection is said to work on many levels — physical, emotional, and spiritual.

Labradorite is believed to protect not only a person, but also their spaces — the home, workplace, car, or places of daily life. It is a quiet guardian and a watchful protector. In ancient Babylon, this stone was placed beneath the threshold of a home to protect it from unwanted visitors, harm, or hidden intentions. It was said that a person arriving with ill intent would simply forget why they had come.

Traditionally, labradorite is placed precisely in the centre of the threshold. It can be a small piece of stone, even without strong iridescence (*). It may be set into the threshold, placed on a windowsill, especially on the ground floor, or kept above the door frame.

For travel or everyday protection, a small piece of labradorite may be carried in a handbag, car, backpack, or placed near meaningful belongings — wherever a sense of inner calm and safety is desired.

Labradorite is more than protection. It is a shield of confidence, a quiet yet powerful companion on the journey through the world.

Mineral iridescence is an optical effect in which rainbow-like colours appear on the surface of a mineral as light is diffracted.
